A rooster was heard crowing off in the distance, marking the start of the new day in the land of Mordor. Many inhabitants living on the floating island of Darbonne had already awoken and started their daily tasks.
Charjer was shaken awake by Ate. "Hey, wake up. Time to eat again." Cueball was heard chuckling.
"Ate, let him sleep man. It's only his second day here." Ate looked back at him and nodded. Then walked back to the table to join him as well as Ryoga and Smirk for breakfast. Charjer sat up and planted his feet on the ground and stretched the sleepiness out.
He stood up and walked over to the table to sit with everyone who was eating and grabbed a bowl of porridge. As they were finishing breakfast, Gohan walked into the first aid station. Everyone greeted him in a monotonous tone, almost as if it was something they did on a daily basis. Ryoga, who was sitting to the left of Charjer, leaned over to whisper in Charjer's ear, "He always comes in late. Always complains about his food getting cold, too." Charjer nodded.
Gohan planted himself down on the seat across from Ryoga, next to Cueball. Charjer looked over at Ate and asked him, "So Ate, how did you and Cueball become best friends?"
Cueball smiled. "You wanna take this one Ate?"
"Sure." By then, everyone had finished eating, except Gohan, who complained about the food being cold. "We grew up together in the town of Lindon. Lived next door to each other. Now, I wasn't the brightest of children, but people liked me. I was mischievious and I was always getting into trouble." A few chuckles were heard in the room.
"I first met Cueball when I was playing outside one day," continued Ate. "I was chasing a cat up a tree when a branch broke and I fell down about six meters. I was eight. Cueball heard me crying and came over and cast a spell on me. We've been best friends ever since."
"Yeah, I remember that day," said Cueball smiling, reminiscing about that day. "Hey, remember the time we found Cerebrus by accident?"
"Oh, how can I forget? That's when we first met Smirk." Ate looked over towards Charjer. "See, we found this cave that had a locked entrance and needed someone to pick the lock, if it was possible. That's when we found Smirk hiding behind us in the shadows. She was tittering about nervously, wondering what she'd gotten herself into."
Charjer looked over at Smirk and she snickered. "Well, after we had gotten her to settle down, we convinced her to help us get past the sealed door. It took a while, but she finally did it."
"Hey!" Smirk exclaimed. "That was a tough lock to pick. It was so big."
Cueball and Ate both laughed as Gohan finished his bowl of porridge. Ate continued with the story. "So, after we had gotten the door opened up, we all go in. What do we find inside? A bloody giant three-headed dog. Luckily, it was asleep. So we moved around as quietly as we could. Unfortunately, it was sitting on the thing we had gone there to get, a rune. It's small, but it weighs a ton. Well, this particular rune was under the huge puppy's right paw.
"Me and Cueball lifted up the paw, and to our surprise, the dog stayed asleep. As Smirk was trying to move the rune, a huge commotion was heard outside. I guess the room was soundproof before we opened it up because the damned puppy woke up and boy was it mad.
"So, we high-tailed it out of there. Cue in the lead with me carrying Smirk over my shoulder as we made a break for the exit. Luckily, that thing's bigger than the cave we came in because it tried chasing us out, but it got stuck." Ate sighed. "We still didn't get the rune."
"It's okay buddy," Cueball reassured his friend. "We'll get it." Ate nodded in agreement.
Charjer smiled. "What about you Smirk?" he asked, looking over in her direction.
"Me?" she asked inquisitively. Charjer nodded. "What about me?"
"What's your story? How did you come to meet everyone?"
"Well, if you really wanna know..."
