Cueball and Ate grew anxious and waited in anticipation as they waited for Ryoga to finish eating. Charjer observed them quietly, eating slowly. Gohan came in after cleaning himself and his armor of the crap that he was covered in.
Charjer passed him a bowl of stew as he sat down. "Sorry. All cold."
"It's okay," Gohan sighed. "Took longer than I thought it would take. It got into places where the sun don't..."
"Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa!" interjected Charjer. "Don't go there." Everyone chuckled.
Gohan let out another sigh. Ryoga was just about finished eating by that time. "Okay."
"Oh god no," exclaimed Gohan, who stopped eating and put his spoon down immediately when Ryoga began.
Ryoga cleared his throat as he began the story. "We searched around Stonehaven and didn't have much luck finding the trolls who had been terrorizing that township. We were traveling east on Isengard in hopes that they would be there." Everyone was listening intently as he continued. "So we reached Barret's Bridge and went under it. There, we found a cave and decided to investigate it.
"Inside, we found a solitary troll leaning against the rocky wall. We wondered what he was guarding because behind him was a pool of water." Gohan slurped noisily from his bowl that made Smirk, Ate, and Cueball shush him. "As I was saying, we found a pool of water. It looked disturbingly calm. So, we decided to see if anyone was under there."
Everyone except for Gohan nodded, intent on hearing him continue. At this point, his story had attracted the attention of the sisters and their patients as they had begun to crowd around to listen. Ryoga continued. "We found this water troll in the pool who was just sitting there writing on some parchment. Gohan walks up to her as if she was some sort of animal, takes out a stick he had been holding on to for some reason, and starts prodding the little thing. Naturally, if someone poked you, you'd get upset." They nodded in agreement.
"Well, she wasn't only upset, she was steaming mad. So she starts attacking us, throwing pebbles and rocks and whatever was near her at the time. So, naturally, I started attacking her because she attacks me. We're going at it for a few minutes when all of a sudden she stops, hops back, and whistles. The next thing I know, we're surrounded by trolls."
Smirk gasped at the thought. Ryoga nods. "Tell me about it. There must have been one hundred trolls there surrounding us in that tiny little cavern. The exit was blocked, so we had to fight our way out. After killing around thirty or forty trolls, we made our way for the shore and back up to the bridge.
"They were in hot pursuit as we made our way back on Isengard. As we were nearing the pigeon roost dump, something hit Gohan that sent him reeling." Gohan sighed once again and everyone listening to the story shushed him. "And he fell into the shit. At that point, whatever trolls we hadn't killed upon our escape caught up to us. That's basically why we're late. We had to finish off the rest of the trolls."
Cueball giggled. "Well, it's good to know you can still run as fast as you did," he said. Ate nodded in agreement. "Oh, by the way, this," he said pointing to Charjer, "is Charjer. He's new to these parts."
"Pleasure to meet you," said Charjer grasping Ryoga's hand.
Ryoga smiled politely. "Well everyone. It's getting late. Time to hit the sack. Good night." Everyone bid the same to him in unison. "Tomorrow is, of course, another day."
