The beast lunges at him and strikes him in his chest. The claws break through his armor and pierces his skin. He is flung back behind his companions. One stays back to see if he is all right while the rest attack the beast.

He feels the pain in his chest and his blood feels as if it is on fire as the poison courses through his veins.

He blinks and his companions are looking down at him. The beast looms above them all. He tries to warn them, but he is weakened and the beast breaks through the group, coming straight for him.

And then there was nothingness.
