The battle grew even fiercer with this new wave of attackers. They were twice as big as the little peons that had attacked first. These were the more powerful monsters and they were attacking with a great rage.

The little group fought as hard as they could to keep the advancing forces back, but they were eventually driven back towards the castle. That was where the long range fighters watched and waited until they could get a clear shot.

When they were well in range, Raziel gave the order to begin their assault on the attackers.

"C'mon!" yelled Ate. "Keep them back as long as you can." Ate, Cueball, Smirk, and whoever was left of the guard platoon were all caked in black blood. They fought hard.

Then a gust of wind came down upon the battlefield, stirring up dust and clouds. Everyone shielded their faces, and when they looked at the battlefield, all the demons, alive and dead, had vanished, almost as if they didn't exist in the first place.

"What happened?" asked Smirk.

Raziel came running out of the castle asking the same question. Cueball and Ate both shrugged.

In the distance, dark figures ran toward them.

"It looks like more monsters," Ate said speculatively. "But, they're running too slow to be demons. I wonder what they are."

As the figures ran closer, they saw that it was the others.

"What happened?" asked Cueball when everyone had reached them.

Miphon appeared. "I did." Cueball jumped back with a start. "Got that damn goat his damn mind back. Stupid witch," he muttered.

"Well, I'm just glad the demons are gone for now," said Lord Claune while walking towards the group. "I know I can rest a little easier knowing that the people of Darbonne will be safe this night." Everyone agreed.

Miphon vanished again without anyone knowing as Ryoga and company made their way home after saying their goodbyes to the giants of the clouds.
