Chapter 5

Beast's Lair

It had been almost two days since she had been a prisoner of the beast. She was in its huge lair, the walls box-like in shape and the ceiling a concave dome. No natural light had entered since the elven maiden had been imprisoned. A soft light produced by tiny pebbles placed all around the room penetrated the darkness.

The beast itself was large as it encompassed well over half the room with barely enough room to stand as the ceiling wasn't very high. It was asleep now, its stomach rising and falling in a slow, deep rhythm as its breath from all three heads filled the air.

When Kechara had awoken from her unconsciousness after their first encounter, she tried to escape, only to be blocked by the huge monster. She had tried many times to sneak out, but the beast was too keen and its senses heightened and was always aware of where she was at all times. She was also unable to will herself away as she had done so many times before. An invisible barrier preventing magic had been set up somehow by someone, blocking her use of the magic she depended heavily upon.

She had given up hope of escaping by her own means and had telepathically linked her mind with Charjer's in the hopes that he would be able to rescue her.

She prayed desperately and hoped that would help bring him to her faster. She was losing hope, as time went by second after painful second with the thought that he would soon be here.

He was all she had left.
